Born in Zurich, Dieter Kaegi studied Musicology and German Literature in Zürich and Paris. After posts at English National Opera, Zürich and Düsseldorf, he became Director of Productions at the Aix-en-Provence Festival. He is now Director of Opera Ireland and has directed twelve operas for the company.
