Born in Kurgan, Irina Novikova is a graduate from the Novosibirsk State Conservatory of Music and went on to win both the Sabitov Competition in Ufa and the Sobinov Competition. Her operatic debut was under Mstislav Rostropovich in his Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk project which toured out of Russia, appearing at the Prinz Regent Theater, Munich, in Dijon, at the Teatro Colón Buenos Aires and at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Rome. Under Gerald Kegelmann she sang soprano solo in the Brahms - Ein Deutsches Requiem and extracts of the role of Donna Elvira Don Giovanni during Russian-German Festival in Novosibirsk. She is a member of the Novosibirsk State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre (NOVAT) where she appears as a principal soprano spinto
