Irina Samoylova was born in Moscow and graduated from the Moscow Shnitke Music College as a choral conductor and singer before going on to further singing studies at the Gnessins Academy of Music under Galina Oleinichenko. She was Grand Prix winner of both the VI National Competition - Bella Voce in Moscow and of the XXV International Luis Sigall Singing Competition in Chile; she won first prize in the II Tomaz Alcaide International Competition in Portugal and was a prize-winner for Operetta in the Belvedere Competition inVienna.

She then took part in the International St. Petersburg Festival Musical Olympus, in the Chile International Festival and appeared in concerts with the Santiago Symphony Orchestra.

Between 2001 and 2005, Irina Samoylova was a principal soprano with the Bolshoi Theatre, where she made her debut as Antonida A LIFE FOR THE TSAR. In 2002 she made her debut with the Latvian National Opera as Königin der Nacht DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE and returned there as Donna Anna DON GIOVANNI. In 2003 she made her debut with Estonian National Opera as Violetta LA TRAVIATA. This role brought her great critical and public acclaim and she repeated Violetta for Opera Ljubljana. She appeared as Tsarevna in a concert performance of Rimsky-Korsakov's KASCHEY THE IMMORTAL conducted by Gennadi Rozdestvensky and then sang the title role of THE SNOW MAIDEN in a new production at the Bolshoi Theatre. She took part in ORLEANSKAJA DEVA at the Concertgebouw, sang the title role of Stravinsky's THE NIGHTINGALE at the Moscow Conservatory Great Hall, returned to Opera Ljubljana to sing the title role of IOLANTA. At Opéra Royal de Wallonie she gave a recital of Russian Music and in 2004 she made her debut at the Dresden Semperoper as Königin der Nacht DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE.

Irina Samoylova made her debut with the Helikon Opera Company as Norina DON PASQUALE. She also appeared there as Serpina in Pergolesi's LA SERVA PADRONA and as Marfa in Rimsky Korsakov's THE TZAR'S BRIDE. She joined the company as principal in 2005 the year that she also attended the Accademia Rossiniana at Pesaro to study under Alberto Zedda and performed the roles of Madame Cortese and Contessa Folleville IL VIAGGIO A REIMS at the Rossini Opera Festival.

Recently Irina Samoylova appeared at the La Coruña Festival singing the role of Adèle LE COMTE ORY and repeated the role at the Tenerife Festival. She sang the title role of Marfa for a co-production of THE TZAR'S BRIDE with the Helikon Opera and Teatro Massimo Bellini di Catania and sang Rosina IL BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIA.

Future plans include a return to the Pesaro Festival for Cleone ERMIONE and she will sing the title role in Rimsky-Korsakov's SNEGUROCHKA for the Wexford Festival.
