Lolitta Semenina is one of the leading stars representing the new generation of Russian singers. Born in Moscow she graduated from the Russian Music Academy in 1986. An important period in her professional career was working in chamber music. She has sung in very prestigious concert halls in France, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Germany, Switzerland and South Africa. In 1995 she became a prizewinner of the M.Glinka International Competition in Moscow, which proved a turning point in her career and in 1998 she won the J. B. Viotti International Competition in Vercelli (Italy). In 1999 she was accepted by the Bolshoi Theatre as a resident soprano and she made her debut there as Musetta LA BOHEME in 2000.


She has gone on to sing the following roles with the Company:

Among recent successes was her appearance as Liù TURANDOT directed by Francesca Zambello for which she received excellent reviews in the press and which she repeated at the Mariinskiy Theatre in St Petersburg.

In February 2005 Lolitta Semenina took part in the Premier performance of Verdi's FALSTAFF, which was staged by the celebrated Italian director, Giorgio Strehler and in June that year she appeared singing the title role in the premier of MADAMA BUTTERFLY, staged by Robert Wilson at the Bolshoi Theatre. In November 2006 she took part in the master-class of Renata Scotto at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome.

J.S.Bach - Messa H-moll, Magnificat; G.Rossini - Messa Solennelle; W.A.Mozart - Requiem, Messa C-moll, Vesperae sollennes de confessore; G.Verdi - Requiem; J.Brahms - Ein Deutsches Requiem; F.Shubert - Stabat Mater, Messa G-dur; G.Pergolesy - Stabat Mater; A.Vivaldi - Gloria; F.Mendelsohn - Lobgesang; L.V.Beethoven - Symphony N°9.

Among the conductors with whom she has worked are:

Vladimir Fedoseev, Mikhail Pletnev, Saulus Sondeskis, Vladimir Spivakov and Wolfgang Gonnenvein.
