Now based in Paris, Sydney born Louise Callinan gained a Bachelor in Music Education at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music/University of Sydney and a Postgraduate Diploma in Opera Performance at the Queensland Conservatorium/Griffith University. She went on to join Opera Queensland's Young Artist Programme where she made her debut as Siebel FAUST. She was a regular soloist with the Queensland Pops Orchestra and sang Mendelssohn's ELIJAH with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra and Queensland Municipal Choir.

Louise Callinan was the first Australian to be accepted into the Centre de Formation Lyric, the young artists' programme attached to the Opéra National de Paris. Here she performed Concepcion L'HEURE ESPAGNOLE, Hermia A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM, Meg Page FALSTAFF, Rosina IL BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIA and Dorabella COSI FAN TUTTE. She also performed Concepcion L'HEURE ESPAGNOL in Montpellier under Jesus Lopez-Cobos in the Chorégies d'Orange 2000 and in live broadcast for Radio France.

In 2000 Louise Callinan made her debut with L'Opéra National de Paris as The Page RIGOLETTO. In 2001-2 she sang Zweiter Zofen DER ZWERG, Un Pâtre La Chouette and Une Bête L'ENFANT ET LES SORTILEGE and Stravinsky's PULCINNELLA at the Opéra Garnier and Tebaldo DON CARLOS, a Flower Maiden PARSIFAL, Chalkiope MEDEE by Liebermann at the Opéra Bastille.

In 2003 she appeared again as a Flower Maiden PARSIFAL, sang Die Frau in Manoury's K, Meg Page FALSTAFF and Ninetta LES VEPRES SICILIENNE with Opéra National de Paris. She performed La Seconda Elfe in Respigi's LA CAMPANA SOMMERSA for Opéra de Montpellier and made her debut with Opera Australia in the title role of LA CENERENTOLA.

Louise Callinan appears regularly in concert and recital. She has sung with L'Ensemble L'Orchestral de Paris in the Théâtre de Champs Elysées, with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra at the Ravinia Festival and with the BBC Symphony Orchestra at the Barbican Hall. In recital she has appeared at the Ravinia Festival in 2000 and 2003 under the auspices of the Steans Institute and made her debut at the Wigmore Hall with Graham Johnson.

Recently Louise Callinan appeared in the role of Zweite Dame DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE, Javotte MANON and covered the roles of Concepcion L'HEURE ESPAGNOLE and Ruggiero ALCINA with Opéra National de Paris. In concert she sang Bernstein's MASS with the Orchestre National d'Ile de France at the Cité de la Musique. She returned to Opera Australia for Rosina IL BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIA and will also appear in the role of Zweite Dame DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE in the film directed by Kenneth Branagh and conducted by James Conlon, which is due for international release later in 2007.

Most recently Louise Callinan was selected by Placido Domingo to sing Veronica in a recording of THE FLY and will also cover the role at the Châtelet. She made her New Israeli Opera debut in the role of Dorabella COSI FAN TUTTE and also whilst in Israel, appeared on the concert platform singing NUITS D'ETE.

Future plans include a return to Australia for the concert Opera under the Stars. She will sing more performances of PARSIFAL for Opéra Bastille, singing both Knappe and a Flowermaiden and will repeat these roles for the Berlin Staatsoper. She will also appear in a new production by Yoshi Oida of Haydn's Il MONDO DELLA LUNA which will take place in Rennes, Nantes and finally Luxembourg.
