Based in Paris, Sydney born mezzo-soprano Louise Callinan was accepted into the Centre de Formation Lyrique (Young Artist Programme) of the Opéra National de Paris. Here she performed Concepcion L'HEURE ESPAGNOLE, Hermia A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM, Meg Page FALSTAFF, Dorabella COSI FAN TUTTE and Rosina IL BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIA. She also performed Concepcion L'HEURE ESPAGNOLE in Montpellier under Jesus Lopez-Cobos, in the Chorégies d'Orange Festival, and in live broadcast for Radio France.
Louise Callinan made her debut with the Opéra National de Paris as The Page RIGOLETTO and since then has performed the following with the Company: Zweiter Zofen DER ZWERG, Un Pâtre, La Chouette and Une Bête L'ENFANT ET LES SORTILÉGE, Stravinsky's PULCINELLA at the Palais Garnier and Tebaldo DON CARLOS, Blumenmädchen PARSIFAL, Chalkiope in Liebermann's MÉDÉE, Die Frau in Manoury's K., Meg Page FALSTAFF, Ninetta LES VEPRES SICILIENNE, Zweite Dame DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE, Javotte MANON, and covered the roles of Concepcion L'HEURE ESPAGNOLE and Ruggiero ALCINA.
She made her debut with Opera Australia in the title role of LA CENERENTOLA and returned to sing Rosina IL BARBIERI DI SIVIGLIA. She covered DER KOMPONIST at Garsington Festival and sang Ninetta in Haydn's IL MONDO DELLA LUNA in Nantes, Angers, Rennes and Le Théâtre National du Luxembourg. She appeared as Dorabella COSI FAN TUTTE with Israeli Opera under Dan Ettinger, in PARSIFAL at the Staatsoper Berlin under Daniel Barenboim and made her debut in THE FLY under Placido Domingo at LA Opera. More recently she made her debut with L'Opéra Comique in Paris as Sylvain LA CHANSON DE FORTUNIO by Offenbach, under Jean-Luc Tingaud.
Her concert repertoire includes appearances with l'Ensemble Orchestral de Paris at the Théâtre de Champs Elysées, with the Chicago Symphony in the Ravinia Festival and with the BBC Symphony Orchestra at the Barbican London.
In recital she has appeared at the Ravinia Festivals 2000 and 2003, USA under the auspices of the Steans Institute and made her debut at the Wigmore Hall, London with Graham Johnson.
On CD Louise Callinan sang La Seconda Elfe in Respighi's LA CAMPANA SOMMERSA in Montpellier and she appeared as Second Lady in the Kenneth Branagh film of THE MAGIC FLUTE.
Most recently she appeared as Samaritana FRANCESCA DA RIMINI (Zandonai) under Daniel Oren at the Bastille for Opéra National de Paris.
