MATTEO DE MONTI was born in Amsterdam and studied voice with Denis Dowling und Otakar Kraus in London. He is well known for his great variety of repertoire, ranging from Figaro and Papageno to Wozzeck and Dr.Schön.

In the highly acclaimed productions by George Tabori he sang Moses in Leipzig, Dresden, Weimar and Hamburg in Schönberg´s Moses und Aron, as well as Bluebeard in Bartók´s Duke Bluebeards Castle in Amsterdam. Also directed by George Tabori he sang at the Berlin Festival (Der Tod in Victor Ullmann´s Der Tod dankt ab) as well as the world premiere of Der Nackte Michelangelo (Shostakowitch´ Michelangelo Suite) at the Schaubühne in Berlin.

At the Oper Leipzig and in Dresden, he sang Majakowsky in the worldpremiere of Majakowsky´s Tod (Schnebel) directed by Achim Freyer, and made an enormous impact in New York, as well as at the New Israeli Opera Tel-Aviv, in Chemnitz and Hannover as Moses in the world premiere of Kurt Weill´s Der Weg der Verheissung.

He is recognised for his extraordinary interpretation of modern and contemporary works. His concert reperoire consists of works such as Beethoven 9th Symphonie, the Matthäus Passion, Johannes Passion, Messiah, Die Schöpfung, Dvorak Stabat Mater, Rossini Stabat Mater, Petite Messe Solennelle, Mozart Requiem, Mozart C-Minor Mass, Fauré Requiem, Berlioz L´Enfance Du Christ , Stravinsky Pulcinella and the Verdi Requiem. He has sung in such noted halls as the Philharmonie and the Konzerthaus in Berlin, the Salle Pleyel and Salle Olivier Messiaen in Paris, the Queen Elisabeth Hall in London, the Concertgebouw, Amsterdam, the Philharmonie in Cologne, the Philharmonie in München, the Gewandthaus in Leipzig and the Konzerthaus in Vienna.

He has given Lieder recitals throughout Austria, France, Germany, Holland, Italy, the USA and Israel, notably his interpretation of Schubert´s Winterreise, Schwanengesang und Die Schöne Müllerin has been received with great critical acclaim. He has recorded for many European Television and Radio Stations, such as the ORF, ARD, ZDF, ARTEBayerischeRundfunk, Israeli Broadcast, BBC und Radio France.

CD recordings a.o for Capriccio, Col Legno and Denon Records.

Most recently he appeared in Die Glückliche Hand in Leipzig, and in the title role of Wozzeck in Krzysztof Warlikowsky´s production of Wozzeck in Warsaw.
