Svetlana Sozdateleva (Soprano) - APA Artists' Management Alexandra Mercer - www.apaartistsmanagement.com Born in Moscow, Svetlana Sozdateleva first studied violin before graduating as a choral conductor from the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Music College. She went on to study solo singing at the Sveshnikov Russian Academy of Choral Art, graduating with honours and went on to post graduate studies at the same conservatoire. After winning the second prize of the Russian National Young Singers' Competition she joined the Helikon Opera Company as a principal soprano. Her roles with the company include Katerina LADY MACBETH OF MTSENSK for which she was awarded the National Theatre Prize: The Golden Mask of 2001, Maddalena in Prokofiev's MADDALENA, Lisa PIQUE DAME, Maria MAZEPPA, Saburova THE TSAR'S BRIDE by Rimsky-Korsakov and two Verdi roles: Lady Macbeth MACBETH and the title role in AIDA. She toured with the Helikon Opera Company in France, Italy and Spain and appeared as Lisa PIQUE DAME at the Opéra de Massy, at the Teatro Villamarta de Jerez and in Alicante. In concert she has performed Cassandra in Taneev's ORESTEA with the Russian National Orchestra under Mikhail Pletnev, and appeared as soprano solo in Bach B MINOR MASS, Berlioz L'ENFANCE DU CHRIST and Shnitke REQUIEM. Recently she took part in the premier of Janacek's THE MAKROPULOS AFFAIR singing the role of Emilia Marty conducted by Gennadi Rozhdestvensky and performed the title role of LADY MACBETH OF MTSENSK at the Ravenna Festival. She appeared as Madame Lidoine in the Russian premier of Poulenc's DIALOGUES DES CARMELITES at the Helikon Opera. She sang Abigaille NABUCCO for Opéra de Dijon and made a most successful debut at the Mariinsky Theatre once again in the role of Abigaille NABUCCO. At the Helikon Opera she made her role debut in the title role of RUSALKA and appeared as Stephana in Giordano's SIBERIA. Her debut at Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie as Renata THE FIERY ANGEL was enthusiastically received. This season she toured Italy and France singing Katerina LADY MACBETH OF MTSENSK and made her debut in the UK as Lady Macbeth MACBETH with Glyndebourne Touring Opera, which she had covered in the main Festival Season.
