Born in Kishinev Moldavia, Vadim Zaplechny graduated from the Koka Music School as a choral conductor. He went on to study singing at the State Institute of the Performaning Arts and on graduating immediately joined the Helikon Opera as principal tenor. With that company he toured Germany, Britain, France, Spain, the USA, Estonia and Lebanon. He made his debut as Hermann PIQUE DAME with the Bolshoi Theatre of Byelorussia, sang Don José CARMEN with the Kharkov Opera and both Hermann PIQUE DAME and Genaro MADDALENA by Prokofiev at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London. He made his debut with Opéra de Nantes as Turiddu CAVALLERIA RUSTICANA and with the Canadian Opera Company as Vodemon IOLANTA by Tchaikovsky. He enjoyed great success as Don Juan in Dargomyjsky's THE STONE GUEST with the Orchestra National de Lille and took part in Prokofiev's WAR AND PEACE at the Spoleto Opera Festival. He repeated his interpretation of Hermann PIQUE DAME at Staatstheater Wiesbaden and also at the Nationaltheater Mannheim, the Bremer Theater and Estonian National Opera. He appeared as Cavaradossi TOSCA at the Stadttheater Giessen and sang Don José CARMEN with both the Latvian National Opera and at the Luzerner Theater. He appeared in the role of Vodemon IOLANTA in a concert performance in Washington DC, sang Lensky YEVGENY ONEGIN at Stadttheater Klagenfurt and Sergey LADY MACBETH OF MTSENSK in Dublin. At the Concertgebouw he sang the role of Genaro in a concert performance of MADDALENA and returned to Nationaltheater Mannheim as Dmitry BORIS GODOUNOV. He repeated the role of Dmitry BORIS GODOUNOV for his debut with Finnish National Opera. For the Canadian Opera Company he appeared as Luigi IL TABARRO, as Turiddu CAVALLERIA RUSTICANA and as Shuisky BORIS GODOUNOV. At the Ljubljana Festival he sang the role of Vodemon IOLANTA. On CD he featured in WAR AND PEACE for Chandos Records.
Recently, Vadim Zaplechny made his Bolshoi Theatre debut as Sergey LADY MACBETH OF MTSENSK and returned there for Hermann PIQUE DAME. He also appeared as Schiusky BORIS GODOUNOV for Opéra de Monte Carlo. He sang Schiusky BORIS GODOUNOV for Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie and has returned to the Canadian Opera Company for Zinoviy LADY MACBETH OF MZENSK.
