Armenian mezzo-soprano, she first studied for a diploma and degree in both opera and choral singing, continuing her vocal studies at the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory. A prize winner in many competitions, including finalist in the All-Russian Obukhova Vocal Contest, finalist in the Competizione dell’ Opera in Minsk, she won a special prize at the Latvian National Opera. She took part in the International Bruckner Festival in Linz and was in the finals of both the International Opera Singing Competition of Portofino and the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World Competition. She has gone on to appear in important theatres, including the Bolshoi theatre and regularly appears with the Nizniy Novgorod State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre. Karina is noted for the beauty of her vocal timbre, her tall, elegant figure on stage and her excellent performing ability.
